Most mission style beds are built in a quarter sawn oak.  This one we designed with a little more modern look by using the maple.  We kept a natural finish to show off the buity of the wood.  We do have a protective, pre-catalyzed Lacquer, coat to protect the wood.  We also build several other pieces to for this set.  We are in the process of adding additional pages.  Until then, email chris@poggyskids.com.  I will send out any additional information you may need.  Some other projects that coordinate with this bed are:  Dressers, Chest, Nightstand, Desk, Wall Unit, Blanket Chest, and Waterbed.
