This 10" thick mattress is part of our Orthopedic Line. It has been in our lineup for 10 plus years and has been tried and tested in hundreds of murphy beds. The plush version is a two sided mattress that can be flipped.

It has a 1" quilted top with 1/2 density foam on both sides and then another foam layer for added comfort and support. Duraflex pads are added that are supportive pads that work to protect the innerspring unit and extend the life.

It has a 1" quilted top with 1.2 density foam. A convoluted foam layer, with the peaks and valleys provides convert in the peaks with air circulation in the valleys. Duraflex pads are added that are supportive pads that work to protect the innerspring unit and extend the life.

Murphy bed Mattress Questions
Dose a Murphy beds need a special mattress? Yes, Murphy beds necessitate the use of specially designed mattresses that can fold in conjunction with the bed. While these mattresses are generally slimmer than their conventional counterparts, they continue to offer comfort and support.

What mattress thickness is needed for a Murphy bed? While different manufacturer my differ, most can accommodate up to 12 inches thick. Wall the murphy beds at WWBeds Custom Furniture can accommodate up to 12 inches.

What kind of mattress is best for a Murphy bed? Typically any mattress that can be stored vertically. Some of the "all foam" mattresses may have the structure to stand vertically and may sage. Always check with the manufacturer and ask these three questions. 1. How thick is your mattress. 2. Can your mattresses be stored vertically. 3. Can the mattress be purchased without the box springs and still retain the warranty.

Can you put a thick mattress in a murphy bed? Typically 12" is the max for most bed. Some manufactures can extend the depth of the cabinet to accommodate thicker mattresses. WWBeds is one of those manufactures. Be aware, when extending the cabinet, the gap between the headboard and mattress grows. Also the connector rail between the legs may have to be eliminated, which means the left and right leg will have to be opened and closed independently. Ask your sales rep for more informaiton.

Are box springs needed on a Murphy bed? Box springs are not needed with a Murphy bed. Murphy beds work as a platform bed with the mattress being supported by the structure under the mattress.

Can all foam mattresses be used on a Murphy bed? As long as they are designed to be sored vertically. Some mattress manufacturer specify that their mattress must be stored laying flat. This is due to the foam not having enough structure or the layers not connected and slippage can occur.

What if my mattress is too light or too heavy for a Murphy Bed? Murphy beds are designed to handle a fairly wide range of weights. Some mechanisms are adjustable, like the Adjustable Piston Mechanism. These can typically be adjusted with a socket (back for heaver mattresses and forward for lighter mattresses). Spring mechanisms will need to have springs added or removed. A quick fix for lighter mattresses is to add a ballast weight under the mattress and toward the foot, in the form of a think piece of plywood.
