This customer wanted something classic yet modern, with a few personalized touches to make the space truly their own. The result? A Templeton Murphy bed that is as practical as it is beautiful.
A Timeless Design with a Modern Twist
The Templeton style has long been one of our most popular Murphy bed designs. Its clean shaker lines gives it that timeless appeal that works in almost any setting - from cozy guest rooms to sleek home offices.
For this project, we crafted the unit from Maple wood and finished it in a two-toned combination: a Pickled (white-wash) finish for the bed and bookcases, paired with a Dark Walnut desktop as a bold accent. The subtle contrast gives the unit depth and character, instantly elevating the room's aesthetic.
Smart Design, Custom Fit
This customer had a specific request - deeper bookcases for added storage, but without losing the "set-back" appearance that makes the Templeton design so visually balanced. To achieve that, we adjusted the proportions:
Murphy Bed Depth : 23 3/4"
Bookcase Depth : 20 7/8"
The result maintains the design's sleek profile while providing extra room for books, decor, or office essentials.
Because of the added depth, we took the opportunity to include a pillow storage headboard - a smart solution for bedding - and added two charging stations for convenience.

Upgraded LED lighting (three fixtures instead of the standard two)
Pencil drawers integrated into the desk
Crown and base molding for a refined finish
